Students from 10 U.S. states and one tropical island attended the Drycleaning & Laundry Institute’s Spring 2019 Introduction to Drycleaning and Advanced Drycleaning Courses. In its 91styear, DLI’s School of Drycleaning Technology has trained thousands of drycleaners all over the globe. Students learned about all aspects of the industry.

Summer School Graduates Bring Home Drycleaning Knowledge

DLI bid farewell to another batch of graduates this summer. In its 91styear, DLI’s School of Drycleaning Technology has trained thousands of drycleaners all over the globe. Students learned about:

  • Sorting loads for drycleaning
  • The science of drycleaning
  • Fibers and their characteristics
  • Fabric construction
  • Cleaning silk, stain, and other fabrics
  • Soil and cleaning theory
  • Operating a drycleaning machine
  • Stain removal chemistry and procedures
  • Removing coffee, ink, grease, and other stains from clothing
  • Pressing pants, coats, blouses, ties, pleated garments, and skirts
  • Using tensioning equipment to improve finishing quality
  • Using bleaches without damaging fabric color
  • Distillation procedures
  • Understanding the differences between solvent types
  • Wetcleaning wool, silk, and more
  • Designing a drycleaning plant with the most effective workflow

DLI Self Study Courses Move Online

The Drycleaning & Laundry Institute (DLI) will offer its Self-Study Course series online beginning May 14, making the educational materials more accessible. The first courses placed online will be the Fibers & Fabrics and Wetlceaning courses. The online self study courses are open to all cleaners. Cleaners may register for the courses at DLIonline.org/Self-Study, then download the materials for independent study on their own schedule. When ready, students may take the course’s online examination. Passing grades are rewarded a certificate of achievement.

Street’s Promotion Benefits DLI School

R.R. Street & Co. donated $5,000 to DLI’s School of Drycleaning Technology as the result of a promotional sale of one of its stain removal products. During the month of September every gallon of Collar Power sold by the company would include a $5 donation to the school. With 775 gallons sold, the company calculated a donation of $3,875. The company added $1,125 to bring the total to $5,000.

Kreussler Announces $10,000 in DLI Scholarships

Kreussler is sponsoring seven scholarships to DLI’s School of Drycleaning Technology totaling $10,000 in 2018. DLI will award one of the new scholarships for each of its 2018 courses and Kreussler will award the rest to customers. Scholarship recipients must be members of DLI or join as members of the Institute to receive the assistance.
