In this article, we’ll look at how four different drycleaning professionals approach the rewarding challenge of using mentorship to turn promising individuals into talented and self-assured leaders. It’s usually helpful to start out by defining the topic at hand, so here goes: mentoring is the act of showing people what you do each day while also explaining to them a bit of the reasoning behind each decision (verbally, nonverbally, both, or neither) until they viscerally understand your provenly-successful modus operandi and can purposefully model their actions upon it.Continue reading “How Mentorship Helps Four DLI Members Succeed”→
Knowledge also brings comfort, knowing you’re doing it right, you can have peace and calmness and then comes convenience.
I hope you had a chance to go to the Clean Show 2019. It was big and had everything to see, to touch, a chance to listen to someone explain the latest and greatest ideas. The best was talking to someone who is in the same business you are in and learn different ways to improve.
This issue I’ll be talking about how to locate faulty check valves in your boiler’s condensate return system. The purpose of a check valve is to limit the flow of water to one direction which is usually indicated by an arrow stamped into the body of the valve which indicates the direction of water flow. These types of valves are used between the boiler return pump and the boiler pressure vessel with the direction of flow towards the boiler. When the boiler’s water level drops lower than the pump activation sensor the pump motor turns on and the pump pulls water from the return tank and pushes it through the check valves into the pressure vessel of the boiler.
A decade or two ago, high-level cost groups were more popular than they are now. The highest profile ones were made up of the top tier drycleaners nationwide, even worldwide. They would meet annually at exotic locales such as Sydney and Maui. I knew many of the members. I couldn’t help wondering why groups like this lost their momentum some years ago. Was it a signal indicating the end of the industry? Was it a way to show apathy on the part of the world’s biggest players? Or were these big players becoming more reclusive? Something was changing.
