Comments from Mobilized Members Saved the Day
The Drycleaning & Laundry Institute (DLI) and California Cleaners Association (CCA) mobilized members to defeat a proposed ban on drycleaning bags in the city of Los Angeles.
DLI and CCA learned about the city’s proposed ban about one week before the city’s December 1 vote. DLI and CCA immediately worked to mobilize members and share comments in defense of the industry’s use of poly bags.
DLI’s School of Drycleaning Technology trained another group of students in the art and science of running a successful drycleaning business. Students attended The Institute’s 381st General Drycleaning Course, comprised of the one-week Introduction to Drycleaning and two-week Advanced Drycleaning Courses.

Chances are you’ve had a health checkup in the recent past. You know the routine: A doctor listens to your lungs, checks your blood pressure, draws some blood, and does a few other exploratory diagnostic procedures. The process might occasionally be uncomfortable, but it’s a crucial part of catching any larger health problems before they become life-threatening.

A new year offers a new start and the renewal of optimism. We all seem to reflect that in our New Year’s Resolutions. The stats, however, suggest our follow through has room for improvement. Apparently fewer than 25% of people actually stay committed to their resolutions until February, and only 8% continue with them through year end.
NCALC’s 2022 Annual Convention was held in Asheville, North Carolina, October 14-16, 2022. The event drew 55 attendees, NCALC’s best post-pandemic event attendance.

The NorthEast Fabricare Association’s return to in-person educational events, Profitfest’22, brought attendees from throughout the U.S. to Wakefield, Massachusetts, October 29 & 30. Attendance was the largest in the 14-year history of NEFA’s Fall Conferences. The speaker lineup promised great infor- mation and delivered on every note.
Beware Fake Deposit Email Scam
DLI has been alerted to the return of a familiar scam targeting cleaning businesses. This email scam involves a fictional hotel order and attempts to make it seem like the cleaner has made an agreement with the sender.
